Fisherman in Yangshuo (in Guangxi, China)

On May 25, nearly 300 people participated in the training "Qualification in Climate Finance of projects financed by AFD", co-organized by AFD, the Chinese Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

These virtual training classes and video presentations in Chinese, as well as interactive Q&A sessions. It was an opportunity to share AFD's knowledge and experiences on climate finance with representatives of central and local governments and managers of projects financed or to be financed by AFD.

This event is fully in line with the AFD's climate mandate, which seeks for at least 70% of its projects financed in China to have climate co-benefits. The training will strengthen the integration of climate criteria in project appraisals.

Currently, AFD is appraising new projects scheduled for financing between 2021 and 2023, for an estimated total amount of approximately € 725 million.

For AFD, this is also the first training course on Climate Finance dedicated to its partners.
